Replacing the Network Icon

So, you accidentially deleted your network icon. how embarasing! But, don't sweat it. It's a snap to replace, really.

To replace this icon you can do one of two things.

(1) The first is
* select Computer from the Finder's Go menu,
* click on the Network entry in the resulting window, and
* choose Add to Sidebar from the File menu.

(2) The other is
* select Preferences from the Finder menu,
* click the Sidebar tab in the window that appears, and
* check the box next to the Network entry.

There you have them - two quick easy ways replace the network icon!

Switching Browsers (Preferred Browser) OSX 10.3

So, you don't want Safari to be your preferred browser? (horrors!) Well, I understand. But how do you change the browser preference? Great question.

For some reason with the advent of Panther Apple's engineers moved the browser preference out of the System Preferences and into Safari's preferences. Heh, I'd like to see the usability study that justified that move... but I digress. So, now, we have our browser preference hidden. Yuk. But, it's OK, we can still change it in a few simple steps.

* With Safari open, click on Safari in the menu bar
* Click Preferences
* When the Preference pane opens, clidk General
* at the top of the page, click the drop down box and select the browser you'd like as your default.

There you have it, a piece of cake to do, you just needed to know where to look.

Oh, why would you do this? Well, the default browser controls which browser gets opened up when you're reading e-mail and click on an active link and other such items.

Having troubles getting Mailing Lists into folders?

If you're having trouble getting mailing list e-mails to follow rules in Office X or Office 2004's version of Entourage, then you're probably just trying to use a rule. For some odd reason rules don't work with mailing lists.

So, how should you deal with it? simple

* Select one of the e-mails that you got from the list
* Select Tools -> Mailing List Manager
* click New
* tell it what to do!

Delete a Radio Station from iTunes

Having problems getting rid of a radio station from iTunes? Follow these simple instructins...

*select the station to delete, and
* press the backspace key.

iTunes presents a dialog box confirming that you want to delete the station.
